Ronald F. Maxwell, who directed the Civil War epic “Gettysburg,” will make a prequel called “Gods and Generals,” which will follow the pre-Civil War years for Confederate Gen. Stonewall Jackson.
The picture, based on Jeff Shaara’s book, will also incorporate a number of female roles from civilian life in that era. A group of Maryland businessmen is providing independent financing for the picture, which will shoot in the Hagerstown, Md., area.
