Frank X. Thomas, 83, former co-owner and president of Apex Printing Company, died Thursday in a nursing home in Westchester. He was a varsity athlete at both Thornton Fractional Township High School in Calumet City and at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Mr. Thomas, who began his career in sales in the printing industry, had also served in positions as sales manager of Luminall Paint Company and as president of Acme Casket Company. Mr. Thomas was a resident for 43 years of River Forest. Survivors, include his wife of 48 years, Virginia; three daughters, Christine Quandt, Celeste and Hilaire Iani; a son, Mark; a sister; a brother; and seven grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Ahern Funeral Home, 6621 W. North Ave., Oak Park. Mass will be said at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Luke Catholic Church, 528 Lathrop Ave., River Forest.
