Jose Valentin Torres, 42, a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Army, died in his home Tuesday after a long illness. A native of St. Louis Potosi, Mexico, Mr. Torres moved to Chicago with his family when he was 3. A graduate of Farragut High School and longtime Wrightwood resident, he retired from the Army with the rank of sergeant. He is survived by his wife, Yon; three sons, Valentin, Jose and Fernando; a sister; and two brothers. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday in Mt. Auburn Funeral Home, 4101 S. Oak Park Ave., Stickney. Mass will be said at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Odilo Church, 2301 S. East Ave., Berwyn.
