A recent news story about President Clinton’s call for a crackdown on smoking by youths quoted a Naperville teen smoker as saying, “It would not be money that makes me quit. I will quit when I think it is time to stop.” And an Arlington Heights youth said: “I’ve been smoking since I was 13, and even if it costs more, I’ll still pay. It’s worth it.”
These remarks may indicate that areas that can boast of good schools and some degree of affluence are not immune from random attacks of stupidity. So, clip this item and hand it to a teenager smoker to let him or her know that the American Cancer Society is once again offering its free, four-session stop-smoking program, beginning this week.
