A boil order was issued Monday because of power surges that interrupted electrical service to the village’s water pumping facility, officials said.

Residents were advised to boil any water used for drinking, said Calumet Park superintendent of public works Robert Palaski. The order is expected to be lifted by noon Tuesday, he said.

“We experienced a couple of power surges about 11 a.m. that stopped operations. This is just a precautionary measure,” Palaski said. The order affects about 9,000 people.

The surges interrupted service at the village’s pumping facility located at 12310 Ashland Ave.
