Robert K. Rood, 87, of Palatine died Saturday in his son’s home in Schaumburg after a long illness. Mr. Rood was a native of Ottawa, Ill., and was a graduate of Morton High School in Berwyn. He worked in the construction business, his son Ronald said. “He followed in his father’s footsteps, and his sons and grandsons are following in his footsteps, as well, by becoming involved in the construction business,” said his son. Mr. Rood was a member of Lather’s Local 74 and worked as an acoustical ceiling salesman, his son recalled. Other survivors include his wife, Elsie; a son, Robert H.; 13 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Countryside Funeral Home, 1640 Greenmeadows Blvd., Streamwood. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
