The Army decided Wednesday that Sgt. Maj. of the Army Gene C. McKinney, its highest-ranking enlisted soldier, will be court-martialed on sexual misconduct charges made by six women. No date was set for the arraignment or trial for McKinney, who has denied the charges. Two charges were dropped of 22 he faced. The decision to court-martial McKinney was made by Maj. Gen. Robert F. Foley, commanding general of the U.S. Army Military District of Washington. The trial will be held at Ft. Belvoir, Va., an Army post under Foley’s command. Foley said the arraignment would be held immediately, but he did not give a date. At that session, McKinney would be expected to enter a plea and declare his legal representation for the trial. Six women have alleged that McKinney made improper sexual advances toward them.
