Wiggle your torso, stomp your feet or just clap your hands to the beat when Percussion Group Cincinnati and Jellyeye Drum Theatre team up for an evening of percussive music at the Visual and Performing Arts Center at Elgin Community College. Using amplified cactus needles, garbage cans and the traditional sounds of drums, cymbals and bells, the Percussion Group will share their own brand of funky, invigorating rhythms. Jellyeye, founded by Shu Shubat, has also created a distinct style called “action drumming,” in which movement, music and narrative are synthesized into one visceral art form. The performance is at 8 p.m. Friday at Elgin Community College, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin. 847-622-0300.
