Joseph W. Stein, 75, a long-time resident of Des Plaines, died Monday in Whitehall North Convalescent Center, Deerfield. Mr. Stein was born in Chicago. Mr. Stein was a machinist with the Water Department of the City of Chicago. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Local 126. Survivors include his wife, Cora “Jackie”; a son, Jeff Taylor; a granddaughter; and a sister. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the M.J. Suerth Funeral Home, 6754 N. Northwest Highway, Chicago. Prayers will be at 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home, to be followed by a mass at 10 a.m. at St. Stephen Protomartyr Catholic Church, 1267 E. Everett Ave., Des Plaines.
