Brunswick Corp. reported a third-quarter net loss of $17.1 million, or 17 cents per share, compared with earnings of $40.5 million, or 41 cents per share, a year earlier. The company took a one-time charge of $63 million, or 63 cents per share, for the streamlining of operations, including closing or consolidating less-profitable operations.

The Lake Forest-based manufacturer of boats, marine engines, bowling and other recreational equipment said revenues rose 15 percent, to $876.5 million from $763.6 million.

For the first nine months, Brunswick reported net income fell 24 percent, to $118.5 million, or $1.18 per share, from $156.7 million, or $1.59 per share, a year earlier. The most recent nine-month figures also reflect the $63 million charge. Revenues for the nine months rose 15 percent, to $2.73 billion from $2.36 billion.
