Acting Fire Chief Michael Figolah is first in line for the job permanently.
Village Manager Michael Janonis announced this week that Figolah’s appointment will be extended for six months as part of a trial to assess his performance. During that time, no additional search will be conducted for a fire chief, Janonis said.
Figolah was appointed acting fire chief after long-time chief Edward Cavello announced his recent decision to take a job as fire chief in Hoffman Estate. Figolah was deputy fire chief at the time.
Janonis said he was extending the Figolah tenure as acting chief because he had been deputy fire chief for only little more than a year.
Janonis said he has confidence in Figolah’s expertise and abilities and believes the acting chief “has all the makings of an outstanding fire chief.”
