Three Painted Ladies Awards have been won by Swanson Painting Co. of Cary for its work on Chicago-area properties.
The award is given by the Paint and Coatings Association of Chicago, made up of local manufacturers who promote their products and forecast color trends. Winners were selected on craftsmanship, color choice and neighborhood appeal.
Of more than 200 entries in 1997, Swanson won three of the 11 honors given, more than any other single entrant. Swanson’s winners were the Choosey Child building in Antioch, the Phillips residence in Evanston and the Grand Prize winning McCaffrey residence of Barrington Hills.
“We have entered since 1988, and we have won 14 different times,” said Bob Swanson, president of the company.
Explaining that the term “painted lady” most often refers to an old Victorian home painted multi-colors, he notes that any building painted in the last year can be nominated. Each homeowner receives a display plaque and professional photograph of the home.
