A New York City man who died with Dr. Jack Kevorkian’s help had been paralyzed after a stroke and suffered from numerous other health problems, Kevorkian’s lawyer said Thursday. Attorney Geoffrey Fieger identified the man as John O’Haria, 54, a former probation officer who had been living in a New York City nursing home. Police found O’Haria’s body in the room of a Romulus, Michigan, motel early Thursday after an anonymous male called the motel. Nearby was a note identifying O’Haria as a Kevorkian patient and ordering police to not investigate. Fieger said O’Haria was incontinent and confined to a wheelchair. He also had had two hip replacements, two knee replacements, gout, kidney problems, a spinal fusion and detached retinas. “He was living in misery. He was brought here by his attorney,” said Fieger, who declined to identify the attorney.
