The Lakewood Village Board has decided to write a letter approving in principal a plan by a citizens group to build a swimming pool in Crystal Lake.

Citizens to Improve Recreation in Crystal Lake for Everyone, or CIRCLE, is lobbying local governments and businesses for support for a swimming pool. Representatives of the group appeared Tuesday night before the Village Board.

Candy Reedy, president of CIRCLE, told the board that the group is seeking similar letters from municipalities adjoining Crystal Lake. She said the letters will become part of a presentation to businesses that are being asked to donate money, supplies or services to help build the center.

The letter from the board to CIRCLE will say the board believes a swimming pool and recreation center should be constructed in the Crystal Lake area but it doesn’t commit the village to help fund it.
