Despite a protest by Kennedy, the Public League soccer semifinal between the Crusaders and Farragut will not be replayed, Public League officials said Friday.
Farragut defeated Kennedy 2-0 in Wednesday’s semifinal to reach Monday’s title game against Roosevelt. The Public League champion advances to the state quarterfinals Friday at St. Charles.
But Kennedy, learning that the officials for its semifinal game were not certified by the Illinois High School Association, decided to file a protest in hopes the game could be replayed.
Public League officials met Friday to decide whether the protest would stand.
“The protest was denied; it had no grounds,” said J.W. Smith, Public League director of athletics. “There were no problems with the officials. They were acceptable.”
