NORMAL APPETITE DECREASE: Parents are often worry because children’s appetites decrease between their 1st and 2nd birthdays. A child’s rate of growth slows in the second year, and it’s normal for an appetite to slow too. This is a time when children also can develop manipulative habits.
EATING DISORDERS: Most who struggle with eating disorders are white, middle-class teenage girls, but boys also can be victims. There also are increasing cases in Hispanic and black populations. Either anorexia or bulimia can begin in children as young as 11 or 12.
TREATING NECK PAIN: Position your head and neck poorly as you sleep and you might arise wishing you could stay in bed. Awaking with a “stiff neck”–pain that not only affects the neck but also might radiate to the back of the head and the shoulder muscles–is a common problem that is usually remedied within 24 hours by applying moist heat, massaging the area or gently moving the neck.
