Salvatore Pane, 86, a former assistant picture editor and reporter for the Chicago Daily News, died Sunday in Balmoral Nursing Home. Mr. Pane was with the former newspaper for 49 years. “Nobody didn’t like Sal Pane,” said Joseph Mann, who served as picture editor there. “He was a very efficient and cheerful person, even under the most stressful of situations.” Survivors include two daughters, Penny and Pamela Lunsmann; a stepdaughter, Patricia Welz; and five grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday in the Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 6150 N. Cicero Ave.
