A 23-year-old man escaped harm late Monday morning when the car he was sitting in was stolen by thieves with a gun in a parking lot near Hinsdale, police said.
Police said Derrick Stafford was in the passenger side of a white 1989 Lincoln near his home in the 600 block of Honeysuckle Rose Lane when two men drew a handgun and pulled him from the car.
Witnesses told DuPage County sheriff’s detectives that they saw Stafford fighting with two men, who jumped into the car and drove away.
Police said Stafford was waiting in the car for a friend to leave an apartment building when he was accosted about 11 a.m.
