Elk Grove Township Elementary School District 59 Supt. Robert Howard has asked district officials and the teachers union to review materials outlining trends in American education to determine what issues should be addressed in the next century.

The initial findings will be presented to the public to generate community participation.

“I don’t feel comfortable developing a long-range plan without consulting with the community about what they want,” Howard said.

More discussion meetings are planned over the next six months. The plan is scheduled for completion in June.
