The Bulls are back.
OK, it’s not quite time to declare the Bulls ready for a repeat of their three-peat–let’s see what happens in Seattle Tuesday night. But they have won two straight on the road with Sunday night’s 103-88 dismantling of the Sacramento Kings before a capacity crowd at Arco Arena.
The Bulls (8-5) never trailed in reaching the 100-point mark for the third time in 13 games. And Michael Jordan’s shooting wrist is feeling better–he was 11 for 19 from the field while scoring his game-high 33 points.
The big news on this night, however?
“It’s good to win two in a row on the road,” Toni Kukoc said after collecting a season-high 18 points with eight assists and six rebounds.
The Bulls watched what had been a 21-point first-half advantage dwindle to four during a sloppy third quarter.
“We just came out flat in the third quarter,” Bulls coach Phil Jackson said. “And the Kings lifted their play up a notch and came back.”
But Sacramento, despite Mitch Richmond’s 23 points, never got closer than four and shot just 33 percent in the fourth quarter in losing their fifth straight to the Bulls.
The second quarter might have been the Bulls’ best this season. They scored 33 points, shot 63 percent (12 of 19) and forced eight Sacramento turnovers, which they converted into 13 points.
“Chicago played one of their best games on the road,” Sacramento coach Eddie Jordan said. “They were active defensively and just took us out of our offense.”
