A husband and wife have been arrested for alleged drug dealing at a children’s day-care center, Columbia County authorities said Thursday.

A 47-year-old man and 41-year-old woman were arrested on felony drug charges Wednesday afternoon, Columbia County Sheriff Steven Rowe said.

Authorities described the two as owner-operators of the day-care center and said they are expected to appear in court Monday.

“The information we have and from the surveillance we conducted was that they were selling during the operation of the day care,” said Columbia County Sheriff’s Detective Roger Brandner.

Brandner said Thursday that most deals were made in an upstairs bedroom of the couple’s home, which also was used as a day-care center.

Nine children were there during an initial police search, authorities said.
