James N. Knapp, 75, of Elmhurst, a former accountant with Swift & Co., died Tuesday in Renaissance Nursing Home, Hillside. Mr. Knapp started working at the meat-packing company shortly after the end of World War II and retired in 1978, according to his daughter Sharon Buyer. A native of Chicago and graduate of Parker High School, Mr. Knapp enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1942 and taught radar in Florida throughout the war. An avid tennis player and former member of the River Forest Tennis Club, he loved to go to Florida and occasionally fished there, his daughter said. Other survivors include his wife, Marjorie; a daughters Nancy; a sister; and three grandchildren. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday in the Ahlgrim Funeral Home, 567 S. Spring Rd., Elmhurst. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Christ Church of Oak Brook, York Road and 31st Street, Oak Brook.
