Dean looks south: Dean Foods Co., Franklin Park, agreed to buy Purity Dairies, the latest in a string of acquisitions as it seeks to expand its network of dairies beyond its Midwest base. Terms weren’t disclosed. Closely held Purity Dairies, based in Nashville, has annual sales of $100 million and sells milk, ice cream and other dairy products in Tennessee, Kentucky and Alabama. The purchase comes a week after Dean, the nation’s largest dairy processor and distributor, agreed to buy Sani-Dairy, based in Johnstown, Pa.
