By the age of 10 he was a performing magician, and at 16 he was teaching magic at New York University. He is David Copperfield, the first of this week’s “Show Stoppers” featured at 7 p.m. on A&E. Copperfield, one of the highest paid entertainers in the world, was born in 1956 in New Jersey. Twenty-one years later he got his first television special. This week of biographies–of legendary masters of live performance onstage–continues with Mick Jagger on Tuesday, James Brown on Wednesday, Wayne Newton on Thursday and Judy Garland on Friday.
