A 40-year-old Melrose Park woman was arrested last week after allegedly taking an assortment of cosmetics, toiletries and batteries valued at $408 from Wal-Mart, 900 S. Illinois Highway 83, police said. Debra A. Ufkes, of 1526 Sparrow St., was charged with felony retail theft, battery and attempted obstruction of justice after allegedly hitting a patrolman and trying to hide her identity, police said.
