With the busyness of Christmas, I didn’t read the paper that morning. It wasn’t until the next evening that I came upon the very touching Christmas story “A Christmas Miracle,” by Kristine Holmgren (Op-Ed).

The illustration of the young girl shivering while waiting for the bus was as moving as the story itself. Tears filled my eyes. I clipped the article and will keep it with my other Christmas mementos to use each year. How wonderful to see the true Christmas spirit of good will toward men illustrated so beautifully.

With the commercialism of Christmas and the hustle and bustle of crowds, it is easy to get disillusioned. But if that extra shopping is for gifts for those less fortunate, something that will bring a child or needy adult some unexpected joy, it is well worth it. The true spirit of giving shall not have been lost just as three unexpected gifts that Ms. Holmgren received so long ago made a wonderful impact on her young life.
