Heilig-Meyers Co. said it has completed the asset purchase of five John M. Smyth furniture stores in the Chicago area for $34 million from Levitz Furniture Corp., which is operating under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Richmond, Va.-based Heilig-Meyers also is acquiring the rights to the 131-year-old John M. Smyth name.
