Alice A. May, 98, a lifelong resident of Chicago, died Jan. 8 in her home. Together with her husband, George, Mrs. May founded the George S. May International Co., a business still in operation that provides management services to small- and medium- sized companies. Mrs. May was active in the company, attending all board meetings, until her mid-90s. The couple also helped organize the Tam O’Shanter Country Club in Niles. During the ’40s and ’50s, she oversaw the clubhouse, its activities and upkeep. Devoted to helping others, Mrs. May ran a Red Cross chapter from her home during World War II. She also was an active member of North Shore Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Jean May Rech and Dorothy May Campbell; a son, Dale; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Friday in Malec & Sons Funeral Home, 6000 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Chicago. Funeral services will be private.
