William R. “Bill” Goetz, 76, a lifelong Chicago resident, died Friday in Colonial Manor Nursing Home in La Grange. Mr. Goetz worked as a screw-machine operator for Stanadyne in Bellwood. He retired in 1981 after 39 years at the company. He also served as a staff sergeant in the Army Air Corps. Stationed in England during World War II, he flew 29 missions in the ball turret of a B-17. Mr. Goetz won the Air Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Survivors include a brother and two sisters. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Zefran Funeral Home, 1941 W. Cermak Rd., Chicago. Mass will be said at 9:30 a.m. Monday in St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 2127 W. 22nd Pl., Chicago.
