Rubbermaid Inc. of Wooster, Ohio, said it will establish a global procurement organization and revamp its manufacturing units in a restructuring that will cut a “significant” number of jobs and achieve expected cost savings of $200 million a year by the end of 2000. Rubbermaid, which sells consumer and commercial products, said the plan is expected to result in a pretax charge of at least $200 million. About $30 million in cost savings are expected in 1998 and the move toward centralized procurement should be completed by the end of the first quarter.
