Nora Pollworth, 80, a longtime resident of Des Plaines, died Monday in Converse, Texas. Mrs. Pollworth was a switchboard operator for Universal Oil Products, Des Plaines, and for the telephone company until her son, Tom, was born. “Parenting and grandparenting were the joys of her life,” said her niece, Kathy Doherty. Survivors include a grandson; and her brother, Harold Rosenwinkel. Services were held Friday in Elmhurst.
