Residents, faculty and staff have been invited to Thursday morning’s groundbreaking for the $21 million addition and renovation of Woodstock High School.

According to School District 200 spokeswoman Barbara Banker, two groups of students and staff members will turn the ceremonial earth with blue and white shovels beginning at 9:45 a.m. at South and Putnam Streets, the site of the new science wing.

Actual construction, originally set to begin next month, may be delayed, however, pending review of construction bids received last month. Banker said the bids exceeded the original estimates by $1.7 million.
