In the March 22 Voice reader Peter Block took issue with Abner Mikva’s position that judges ought to be appointed rather than elected.
Mr. Block added that he is personally pleased that United States senators elected by the American people are “Borking” many of the unqualified judicial activists nominated by the president.
I wish it were true that they were only “Borking” them rather than behaving in such a dismal and abominable fashion of not even considering the nominations. They have allowed these nominees to languish without any certainty as to their futures. It would be better and of greater service to this nation were they to at least act upon these nominees and find them unqualified, if that is the case. But it appears that they have no basis for finding them unqualified and, therefore, simply fail to even deal with the nominations. For shame on the U.S. Senate.
