The Kirby School District 140 board has approved plans for its summer session, including 26 curriculum programs and $74,000 in expenditures.

“Summer curriculum is the heart and soul of the district,” school Supt. Arnold Drzonek said after the board approved the plans last week.

The district’s extended-year program for special education students will run from June 15 through July 9 at Helen Keller School. The program will offer speech and language help, as well as instruction.

The district’s summer band program will run from Aug. 3 to 21 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. In addition, each school will have a summer computer camp.
