Michael E. Halpin, 42, of Chicago, a truck driver for the Chicago Streets and Sanitation Department, died of liver cancer Monday in Concord Nursing Center, Oak Lawn. He was a lifelong resident of the Canaryville neighborhood. He graduated from St. Gabriel School and De La Salle High School. Mr. Halpin and his wife, Patricia, attended grammar school together. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Ivy; a son, Michael Patrick; his mother, Lucille; a sister, Joan Meek; three brothers, William, Patrick and Timothy; a grandmother, Florence Thiel; and a granddaughter. Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 4522 S. Wallace St., Chicago.
