The Lake Forest City Council unanimously approved appointments by Mayor Cornelius Waud on Monday night to a committee to study several proposed options for a new public works facility.
The seven-member committee, which includes representatives from each of the city’s four wards, is made up of five residents and Aldermen John Andersen and Thomas Tropp. The group will look at a proposed Ft. Sheridan site and others where offices, garbage trucks, plows, lawn mowers and salt piles can be located.
In March, the City Council approved on a 5-2 vote a controversial resolution that allowed the city to begin discussions with the U.S. Army about buying land at the north end of Ft. Sheridan for the municipal services facility.
But other options for the garage are still being considered, including consolidating services at the current site on Laurel Avenue and constructing a facility at a site near Illinois Highway 60.
