Residents served by a troubled private utility in an unincorporated area between Clarendon Hills and Willowbrook have decided they want Lake Michigan water.

Art Fiascone, who represents the neighborhood east of Illinois Highway 83 and south of 55th Street, approached the DuPage Water Commission last week and said most of Clarendon Water Co.’s 280 customers want the utility to begin buying water directly from the Lake Michigan water agency. The water from the utility, which is served by a shallow well, reportedly has extremely low pressure and a high iron content.

Commission officials said the water company might save money by buying water from a neighboring town instead of directly from the commission.
