Village President Ted Spella appointed seven members to Algonquin’s new Planning and Zoning Commission.

The single commission replaces the Plan Commission and the Zoning Board of Appeals. Spella said he hopes the move will eliminate redundancies in the village’s development approval process. The Village Board approved the appointments Friday.

Four of the new commission’s members, Richard Hoferle, Andrew Neuhalfen, Michael Sabatine and Paul Sturznickel, previously served on the zoning board.

Members who had been on the Plan Commission are Charles Curran, Margaret Auger and Patricia Szpekowski.
