Shame on the Solid Waste Agency of Lake County for showing no concern about its proposed hazardous waste storage facility being within 1,000 feet of a school (“Round Lake residents protest waste storage site,” Metro, April 27).
Such lack of concern is extremely irresponsible. Not only is this site practically in the back yard of Round Lake High School, it is adjacent to the Metra tracks and within half a mile of the Round Lake Park District’s day care and camp facility, the Round Lake Library and the densest part of the village.
This is totally irresponsible on the part of SWALCO and any village officials who let this facility be built here.
