As another Mother’s Day approaches, perhaps a date with the baddest mother of them all, Joan Crawford, will make you appreciate just how good you had it growing up. At 9:30 p.m. May 10, The Music Box Theatre presents a Mother’s Day extravaganza, featuring a screening of the camp classic “Mommie Dearest.” Dirt-dishing author Christina Crawford will be on hand to share stories about life with Mom, as well as autograph copies of the newly expanded 20th anniversary edition of her tell-all book, which includes 100 pages of unrevealed sordid details. Drag queen Honey West emcees the festivities, which include a Joan Crawford look-alike contest and “special celebrity appearances.” Audience participation is encouraged – do I need to tell you to bring your wire hangers? Tickets are 20, with some proceeds benefiting Open Hand Chicago. Call 800-789-8536, or e-mail hostess@best.com.tf
