John Dellamaria, 84, a retired Chicago police lieutenant, died Thursday in Alexian Brothers Hospice in Elk Grove Village. Born in Chicago, he lived in the city for all but the last two years of his life, which were spent in Glenview. He worked as a police officer for 35 years, retiring as a lieutenant in 1976. Mr. Dellamaria served in the Navy during World War II aboard the USS Springfield. Mr. Dellamaria is survived by his wife, Margaret; three sons, Thomas, Michael and Matthew; three daughters, Ellen Dellamaria, Nancy Bjorkquist and Joan Dolce; three sisters, Catherine Woodville, Teresa Rosing and Eleanor Havell; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Kolbus Funeral Home, 6841-57 W. Higgins Ave., Chicago. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the funeral home, followed by mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Monica Church, 5135 N. Mont Clare Ave., Chicago.
