Driving on Interstate Highway 57 on a weekend is now like driving through a backward Southern state. How can the governor justify this abuse of authority? I have counted as many as six state police cars in a 10-mile stretch.
This example of Big Brother going to the extreme has had little effect on the average speed on the highway. Maybe it is time for Illinois to join the rest of the civilized world and admit that 65 m.p.h. is not a reasonable speed for our interstate highways.
We have one of the finest state police forces in the country. Maybe these officers would rather spend their weekends with their families and their time at work chasing real criminals instead of sitting on the roadside collecting road tax for the governor to hand out to his politically connected friends.
