William Albert Migely, 97, a longtime Chicago resident and retired investment broker, died April 24 in Arizona. Mr. Migely, who was born in Chicago, attended Valparaiso University and Northwestern University. For many years, his family owned and operated the Bismarck Hotel in Chicago. Mr. Migely began his career as a runner for a securities firm in 1920. During the Depression, he briefly sold newsletter subscriptions for U.S. Steel. Mr. Migely later spent 45 years with the securities firm of Shearson Hammill in Chicago and Arizona before retiring in 1992. He was a lifetime member and supporter of the Art Institute of Chicago. He moved to Scottsdale, Ariz. in 1979. Survivors include a son, William Godfrey; two daughters, Jean Elizabeth Humble and Helen Virgina Andrews; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Services were held last week.
