Algonquin will be counting heads this summer, but needs a few extra hands to do it.
To gain its rightful share of state tax revenues, which are doled out based upon population, the village will conduct a special census next month–its third since 1990.
A special census in 1996 pegged the population at 19,007. Village officials estimate that the current population is at least 20,300.
The village is seeking workers to assist with the project, which will begin June 3 and run for three to four weeks. The pay range is $9 to $11 per hour.
Candidates should be U.S. citizens and have a high school diploma.
Applications are available at Village Hall, 2200 Harnish Drive, and must be completed by May 15.
