A recipe for Amaretto-apricot chews in the May 20 Good Eating section listed an incorrect quantity of butter. Here is a corrected version.

AMARETTO-APRICOT CHEWS

Preparation time: 20 minutes

Cooking time: 10 minutes

Cooling time: 5 minutes

Yield: About 54 cookies

Cookie:

1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened

3/4 cup packed brown sugar

1/2 cup sugar

1 large egg

1 tablespoon amaretto

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 1/2 cups regular rolled oats

1 cup chopped dried apricots, see note

1/2 cup finely chopped almonds

Glaze:

2 cups confectioners’ sugar

2 to 3 tablespoons amaretto

Milk

1. Heat oven to 375 degrees. For cookies, cream butter and sugars in bowl of electric mixer on medium speed until light, about 3 minutes. Add egg and amaretto; beat until combined. Beat in flour and baking soda until well mixed. Stir in oats, apricots and almonds by hand until combined.

2. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake until lightly browned, 8 to 10 minutes. Let cool on baking sheet until firm enough to remove without breaking, 4 to 5 minutes. Cool completely.

3. For glaze, stir together confectioners’ sugar and amaretto in small bowl until smooth. Add milk, one teaspoon at a time. Drizzle glaze onto cool cookies.

Test kitchen note: It’s easier to snip apricots with kitchen shears than to cut with a knife because they’ll stick to the blade. Also, for cakier cookies, add an additional 1/4 cup flour to dough. Proceed as directed above.
