Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

THEY’RE clunky, low-tech, and you’ve probably got a box full of them collecting dust in your attic or basement. But in this increasingly digital world, the humble 8-track tape cartridge is enjoying a second heyday. Though nearly driven to extinction in a cutthroat, technology-mad marketplace, this ingeniously simple system (designed by the inventor of the Lear jet) has come back into style. An ever-burgeoning legion of novelty-weary music lovers is dedicated to keeping the “obsolete” format alive, via magazine (“8-Track Mind”), Web site (8-Track Heaven at pobox.com/abbot/8track/) and documentary film (“So Wrong They’re Right”). At 6 p.m. Sunday at Delilah’s (2771 N. Lincoln Ave.) you can join the analog underground in an 8-track swap meet. Admission is free and a strict barter-only policy is enforced, so if you absolutely must have that rare Sex Pistols cart, bring something equally cool to trade. 773-472-2771.
