The Wheaton Warrenville Unit District 200 board deliberated Sunday in an attempt to identify two finalists for the job of school superintendent but adjourned without making a decision.

Saturday, the board concluded interviews of the five semifinalists to replace Supt. E. James Travis.

The district was to have contacted the two finalists late Saturday or early Sunday, district spokeswoman Denie Young said on Saturday.

However, the board held an emergency meeting Sunday, giving rise to questions about whether one of the candidates may have backed out of consideration.

Travis, 56, recently resigned his $135,000-a-year post to become a teacher in the district.
