Howard Reich’s May 24th article taking Frank Sinatra to task for his past boorish behavior was well over due. Since his death the media and fans have sentimentally reminisced his life as if he were a saint-in-waiting. Much is made of his charitable generosity and paying Ava Gardner’s medical bills. A noble gesture, but involving money. A mini-sacrifice in Sinatra’s case.

What is important about the socially prominent, the powerful and overly affluent is how they treat ordinary and less fortunate people. Sinatra had a reputation of bullying and squashing no-status people like jelly doughnuts. His gang-type mentality with the Rat Pack and their vulgarity towards women was without limits. The average working stiff owe him no adoration.
