The city of Chicago has an official flower, as declared at a 1966 City Council meeting, and over the last few weeks I have been asking people what that flower is. Of 38 people asked, none had the right answer.

Many people guessed that it was the crocus. Others guessed rose or tulip.
It is the chrysanthemum.
