Master P

MP Da Last Don (No Limit/Priority)

Last year, Master P’s direct-to-video film hit “I’m Bout It” and chart-topping “Ghetto D” album made the rapper-label owner one of hip-hop’s most powerful figures. Refusing to let the hype generated from the success of his other No Limit Records releases subside, the New Orleans native returns with his fifth–and supposedly final–solo album. Rather than building off his earlier work, P retreads the same tales of ghetto strife. He adds his signature groan to the majority of the double album’s 29 cuts, while work from producers Beats by the Pound sounds too similar to that supplied for recent No Limit releases from Soulja Slim, Fiend, C-Murder and Silkk the Shocker.
